H.A.S. = Harmonica Aquisition Syndrome

N+1 = Number you already have +1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Do you suffer from it?
2) How do you control it?
3) How many have you got?
4) How many more do you need?
Keith
H.A.S. is a subset of Gear Acquisition Syndrome
A:
I suffered HAS but am in remission
B:
Controlled it by having enough hars to fulfil current need, and to focus spending on overarching GAS - two trumpets, one cornet, one gold plated cornet mouthpiece - mute, another mute, more mutes. CDs for listening etc.
C:
I think I have about 19-20 diatonics and one chromatic. All major scales, some doubled/tripled up on different styles, and a few low tuned, plus a Hohner Steve Baker Special edition in D.
D:
I need all the minor keys, so that's at least 12.
If my wife reads this, I'm probably going to die.
I wonder how 1,2,3,4 turned into A, B, C, D...? are they now musical notes...? :)
A#
I think I'm finally getting to a saturation point. I can now admit that it's not the harmonica, it's me. Therefore, I don't have that burning desire to buy more harmonicas as much as I used to.
Bb
Spend less time looking at harmonicas, and more time practicing.
Cm
I try not to count them, it makes me feel guilty.
Dm(H)
How many more are there..? :)
A#. I'm with harmless. Have enough (for now ). It will be a while before my skill catches up.
Bb. Retuning and working on them, attempting to trade some unused harps off, (see the for sale or trade board ), need to play more.
C. Not sure, enough to keep me going for a while.
D. Well.... I don't really NEED anything, but I could use a couple more keys, and do want to try a valved bebop tuned diatonic , and there are a couple tunings that ..... Maybe next year.
I'm embarrassed to say that, in less than 3 years, I have accumulated 34 diatonics and 3 chromatics.
In my defense (weak defense) I put harmonicas on my birthday and Christmas wish lists so I didn't buy ALL of them (just most of them).
Here's a list of models:
Suzuki: Bluesmaster, Promaster, Manji, Firebreath
Hohner: Marine Band, Golden Melody, Meisterklasse, Special 20, Super Chromonica, CX12
Seydel: Big 6, Blues Session Steel, 1847 Classic
Tombo: Lee Oskar, Aero Reed
Swan: 1248 Chromatic
I won't stop...though I have slowed down. There are too many harmonicas that I want to try. I want a Bass harp. I want a Tremelo.There are so many different tunings that I want to try.
