Making video is not always as it seems. It may take several tries to get it right. Here's my progress to a video of a song called Julianne Johnson..

Ha, tell me 'bout it, I must have done close on 30 takes this morning getting 3 clips to put together for a video for my uke forum this morning, it's so frustrating at times. B)

Edit: But I managed to get something in the end.

Baritone cedar top uke, Fanfare-S tremolo, & long neck solid mahogany uke.

Kudos on you Sarge. For most of us there is no magic to learning a difficult tune. You work your way through it and modify as you go along. Playing it over and over again will finally kick in the "muscle memory". After that, a person can kick it around and see what falls out.
Many an old song has become a hit because somebody dug it out and kicked it around some and modified it a little.
I have yet to try this particular tune but look forward to trying it out.

Thanks Squacks. A lot of those old fiddle tunes require a bit of modification to play on a harmonica..

Keith, I just now got to listen to your video. I think you are progressing nicely. You made a good choice using a tremolo on this song. I like sound of your baritone uke. How are you feeling about the progress you have made?

Cheers, Sarge. :)

I'm quite pleased with my progress since I took a step back to try to learn to read music at the same time as learning to play my chromatics.

However, my uke playing has suffered a bit whilst I concentrated on it - I was a little bit better than I am in this video.

All in all, I'm chuffed with how I've managed to learn to play an instrument (or two) since retiring. B)
