Sarge, fantastic on Golden Slippers.
I’ve been trying to play for a little over a year now, enjoying it very much. I have approximately (20) songs in my library that I practice – heck every once in a while I play the right notes through the whole song!!!
So far I’m just playing single notes. I have an Easttop 12 hole chromatic harmonica in the key of C.
Do you think you can still come down to a beginner’s level and explain how to play a simple song like you do? Like blow 4 then draw 2&3 at the same time? What would be a beginner song and how do you do it?
I'm sure there are a lot of beginners out here that don’t even know how or where to start. We just listen to you guys and think how do they do that! Any help from anyone would be great.
Keith, I have bookmarked the angelfire website
Dexer, this is my first attempt trying to transpose notes to tabs. The only reason I even tried is because I could not find tabs for this song anywhere. Yes, you’re right – I’d much rather be practicing than trying to do paperwork. I’ve actually surprised myself, I have approx. (35) songs/tabs that I have from the Tab section in Slidemeister and from the Chromatic Harmonica channel on YouTube that I play along with. I have finally gotten to the point where my dog will stay in the same room while I’m practicing.
Richardarmstrong, you’re right. I can’t tell the difference between the different keys. The only thing I know is when I transpose the notes to tabs and then try to play it – it does not sound right, it’s too high.
Thanks for all the help
Dezzy, this is exactly what I’m looking for.
I’m just a beginner and have zero background in music. Most of the songs that I am learning and playing have come from either Sliedmeister Tab section or from this site on YouTube www.youtube.com/channel/UCxuJZzpwJjJ_lCUUQPdJfgQ
I found this chart on the internet (see attachment), and have purchased a couple sheet music sheets and am trying to make tabs. I only have (1) harmonica – it’s an Easttop 12-hole chromatic in the key of C. When I tried to convert from notes to tabs, it just sounds too high but I don’t know how to make the notes lower yet.
I have a 2-1/2 year old grandson that is ate up with this Baby Beluga song.
I have only been playing for a year now, but would love to learn this song.
I have the sheet music but am having problems converting to my 12-hole key of C chromatic harmonica.
Any help would be appreciated
Here is the YouTube website - www.youtube.com/watch?v=irQa3UDV_AM&feature=youtu.be
And here is the sheet music (see attachment) – for the flute – I read online that the flute sheet music was good for harmonica. Not sure if that is correct
Sarge, what harmonica are you playing, and in what key?
YouTube along with Harmonica Club, Slidemeister and Harptabs have all been great help. As a beginner with zero background in music it has been a little tough. There is no substitute to having someone that you can sit down with and say “OK, how did you do that!”
I have either went to, or called every music store in my home town to see if they knew anyone that played the harmonica – they all just kind of chuckle and say no
Unfortunately I only have YouTube to learn from – I understand the tabs like 5 -4 4 -4 4 4 but then you are playing the tabs and also playing the chords like 5 (5 6 7) -4 (-4 -5 -6) this is only a guess I know this isn’t correct
What I have been doing so far to learn is using songs from YouTube like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyO3kvjXHtQ&inde...SKPIb_Az_yBr7lMlEpsH
It has helped a lot. It shows the tabs and lets me listen to what it is supposed to sound like.
I found the tabs for Endearing Young Charms
But it’s not like Sarge plays
Would love to learn how to play like Sarge, unfortunately being a beginner I still rely on tab sheets to know what notes to play.
Do they even have a tab sheet to show how to play like this?
I only have one harmonica, a Hohner CX12 key of C chromatic. Would love to learn how to play like you - but I did not start at an early age - I started at 62 and it's been hard to teach this old dog new tricks - but I'm trying and having fun, that's all that counts for me.
Sarge, which chromatic harmonica and what key was Piano Roll Blues played with/in
I’m just learning the chromatic – have zero musical background other than playing the radio. I just started March 2016. I do pretty well on clear single notes (most of the time!!) How do you play the songs like Piano Roll Blues? Is there a tab sheet available to show how? I must be the only person in Evansville Indiana that plays the harmonica. I have either called or gone to every music store here trying to find someone that plays the harmonica but they all just look at you with a puzzled look on their face and then try to sell you a guitar, keyboard or something else.
