No your post didn't sound critical to me, but I have been of the same opinion, personally, so I thought I'd ask everyone what they thought.
The main reason for the choices in the Monthly Challenge is because Marcy started it, & that is the kind of tunes she likes to play.
(As noted elsewhere, my personal preference is to choose your own tune to fit in with a chosen theme.)
On another thread, the question has come up about the choice of tunes.
So I wonder if you would like to have a say about the way we are going about these types of threads.
Feel free to comment about how you would like to see them evolve.
Would you like a monthly genre specific thread, or maybe a specific period of music?
I'm only at the stage of being able to get a recognisable tune out of my harmonicas, but I started up several threads elsewhere, mainly aimed at encouraging beginners to join in, but I also know how difficult it is to make that first recording & post it here.
Looking forward to hearing your opinions.
I think the person who starts the thread has the right to say which tunes to play, after all, we can all start threads, the popular ones will blossom, whilst those that are not will die.
Personally, I prefer the Alphabet Challenge formula, where we can pick something that relates to that months theme.
This way we can get on with learning the tunes we'd like to play.
(It is also the way things work on my ukulele forum, & that allowed me to become more proficient at playing than if I was doing it on my own.)
I hope to be able to join in soon - when I can string the notes together sufficiently for people to be able to at least recognise what I am trying to play.
Nicely done, Andy.
I tried Vimeo, but couldn't figure it out, so went back to Youtube, with all its ills.
Great feel to that one, gunsmoke.
This is the URL that you need, (I have added a space between the 2 // so that it will show as an URL here).
This is the URL that shows at the top in the address bar of your video, (note, again that I have added a space between the 2 // so that it will show as an URL)
By placing either of these in a post will make your video show up.
If I remember right reading about these, the bottom 3 are the exact same, except down an octave, (i.e. same chords as the normal bottom 3).
I certainly can, this is what I learnt when I started out on the ukulele, record yourself, & go back after a few months to see that you have actually progressed.
I also came across this one from my first try at learning to play, in 2015, before I went over to ukuleles.
WARNING - This one really does suck, but it's where I was at that time!
(So for any beginners looking in at this thread, take heart, you can get better. )
Nice to hear how it should be played, Geoff (Tootler).
Your welcome - it happens to be one I try to play.
